CHRISTMAS - ADVENT - Good News, Great Joy - Jean-Luc Trachsel

DAY 2 OF 5

THE PRINCE OF PEACE REIGNS

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
Isaiah 9:6

Peace came in the form of a child, not a decree. Jesus is heaven’s answer to your restless heart and to shaken nations, the One whose shoulders carry what yours cannot. When He reigns in you, storms lose their voice. His peace, steady and eternal, is the atmosphere of His Kingdom and the promise of His Presence.

Like a calm lake at dawn, this rest can dwell within you. The Holy Spirit takes Christ’s peace and establishes it as the foundation of your thoughts. He does not deny reality; He defines it through a greater reality: Christ in you, the hope of glory. Under His reign, fear fades and courage returns. This peace does not depend on perfect circumstances but on a perfect Savior. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you,” a peace capable of reigning in hospitals, homes, schools, and even your daily decisions.

History proves it. In Chicago, after losing his daughters at sea in 1873, Horatio Spafford wrote “It is well with my soul” as his ship passed the site of the tragedy. The storm did not vanish, but the Prince of Peace reigned in his heart. The same Jesus reigns today in Zurich, Madrid, Naples, Helsinki, and anywhere He is welcomed: there, the inner climate changes.

Remember: “The government rests on His shoulders,” not yours. Give Him the burdens only He can carry. The Holy Spirit teaches your soul to breathe, to listen, to rest, and then to act with wisdom. Peace is not weakness but power; it steadies your hands to build, reconcile, and choose without fear.

Peace in Jesus is tangible. It guards your mind, soothes your body, turns reaction into response, and fear into prayer. Many have seen a tense conversation change when Jesus’ name was whispered. Many decisions became clear when the Holy Spirit brought quiet assurance. This is the reign of the Prince of Peace.

The world says, “Wait for calm, then you’ll have peace.” Jesus says, “Receive Me, and I will be your peace in the midst of it all.” He is your Wonderful Counselor, your Mighty God, your Eternal Father, your Prince of Peace. His Kingdom continues to expand, and with Him, His peace grows in you, in your home, and in your mission.

Lift your eyes to Him. Let His promises speak louder than your predictions. You are not at the mercy of worry but under the mercy of a faithful King. His presence is your sanctuary, and His peace is your portion tonight.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are my Prince of Peace. I welcome Your government over my thoughts, my emotions, and my decisions. Holy Spirit, place a strong guard over my heart and fill my home with the calm of Christ. Let Your Glory rest on my family and my church, and make me a peacemaker who carries Your Presence into every conversation. In Your Name, amen.
