Lessons From Some Hidden Heroes in the Bible

DAY 6 OF 6

Jael - Seizing The God Moment

“Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.” – Judges 5:24 (KJV)

Jael’s story in the Bible is one many people don’t often talk about, but it holds a powerful life lesson. She was a regular woman, a wife, not a warrior or prophet. Yet, God used her in a big way to bring victory to His people. When the enemy commander, Sisera, ran for his life, he came to Jael’s tent thinking he was safe. But Jael surprised everyone by taking him out with just a tent peg and a hammer. Her boldness teaches us that God can use anyone, ordinary people like you and me, to do great things if we are ready to obey Him.

One key lesson from Jael’s story is this: learn to take your chances when they come. She didn’t wait for someone else to act. She recognized the moment and did what needed to be done. In life, we sometimes wait for perfect conditions before we step up; waiting to have more money, more experience, or someone else’s approval. But Jael shows us that when a God-given opportunity comes, we must be brave enough to act, even if it looks scary or unusual.

Jael didn’t use any fancy weapons. She used what she had around her, a tent peg and a hammer. That’s a big lesson for us too. Sometimes, we think we need something extra before we can help others, solve a problem, or fulfill our purpose. But God often works through the simple things we already have. Your voice, your job, your time, your kindness; these can be powerful tools in God’s hands if you let Him use them.

Lastly, Jael shows us that making a difference doesn’t always mean doing something loud or public. Sometimes the most powerful moments happen in quiet places, when no one is watching. You may feel like your life is small or unnoticed, but when you say yes to God in the little things, He can turn it into something huge. Just like Jael, your obedience can change the course of a whole situation even if you’re doing it from your own space.

Prayer and Confession
I am courageous and alert. God uses me for His purpose, even in ordinary moments. I am equipped with what I need, and I will not wait for perfect conditions to obey God. Like Jael, I will seize divine opportunities and trust God to work through me. Amen!

Blessed? You're not ordinary.

About this Plan

Lessons From Some Hidden Heroes in the Bible

This Bible Plan draws wisdom from hidden heroes in the Bible—ordinary individuals whose faith and courage shaped divine outcomes. From Jael’s boldness, the daughters of Zelophehad’s faith, Jehosheba’s bravery, Ehud’s uniqueness, to the four lepers’ daring steps, each story reveals how God works through unlikely people. Their lives remind us that true heroism in God’s eyes is not about fame but faithful obedience in critical moments.
