Day 20: The Long View
Reflection:
The heroes of faith died waiting—but never without hope. Advent reminds us that we are part of a bigger story and a greater kingdom still to come. That means we will not always be comfortable here. As Hebrews says, God’s people are “strangers on earth.” We live as pilgrims, longing for a home we cannot yet see. But the promise is sure: “God has prepared a city for them.”
Too often, we try to figure out how God will work things out in the here and now. We look for shortcuts to security, success, or comfort. But when we cling too tightly to this world, we lose sight of the kingdom to come. There is no greater anxiety than the feeling of being far from our purpose. This is the joy that faith brings in the midst of chaos.
True fulfillment doesn’t come from gaining more, but from surrendering to Christ. Jesus said, “Whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Advent calls us to trust that what God has prepared is better than anything we leave behind.
Meditation:
What promises are you still waiting on God to fulfill?

About this Plan

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas. It is a season of holy waiting, of longing in the dark for the Light that is coming. We not only look back to the manger, but forward to Christ’s return in glory. Advent trains our hearts to be awake and expectant, anchoring us in the hope of God’s promises. This 25-day plan invites you to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the meaning of Advent. Together we will journey through Scripture, prayer, and meditation, remembering that the coming of Jesus is not sentimental tradition, but a world-shaking reality.
