A Burden That Awakens Your Faith – Day 1
Sometimes, before God uses you, He doesn’t give you an opportunity — He gives you a burden. Something weighs on your heart: a need, an injustice, a situation that hurts to see. That’s not a coincidence — it’s God awakening something in you.
Nehemiah experienced this firsthand:
“When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days, I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”
(Nehemiah 1:4, NIV)
He heard that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down, and something ignited inside him. He couldn’t stay the same.
God usually begins His work inside of us before doing it around us. That burden you feel isn’t frustration — it’s the Holy Spirit stirring you toward your purpose. The same happened with Moses when he saw his people’s suffering in Egypt (Exodus 2:11–12). His pain pushed him toward his calling.
Maybe there’s something today that stirs your heart — a need you see in your church, your neighbourhood, or your family. Please don’t ignore it. God uses burdens to create compassion, and compassion to inspire action.
In practical terms, it’s like noticing a crack in the wall that no one else sees, but you can’t ignore. God is showing you something He wants to fix — and He wants to do it through you.
Before action comes the burden, and before the burden comes prayer.
Talk with God and open your heart:
Lord, thank You for placing in me a burden for what breaks Your heart. I don’t want to get used to it or look away. Awaken my faith to act — teach me to respond with prayer, not complaint; with compassion, not indifference. Prepare my heart for what You want to do through me. Amen.
Think about this:
• What things have been weighing on your heart that could be part of God’s calling?
• How can you turn that burden into prayer and action?
Coming up on Day 2: Pray and Take Action
Tomorrow we’ll see that when faith awakens, it doesn’t stay in words — it becomes God-guided decisions that transform realities.
About this Plan

God has plans and blessings prepared for each of us, but many times they don’t arrive because we’re not ready to receive them. Through the example of Nehemiah, we’ll learn how to prepare spiritually, emotionally, and through action so that God’s will can be fulfilled in our lives. This plan will help you strengthen your faith, put your steps in order, and trust that when God finds a prepared heart, His hand moves in power.
