What’s the impact?

Most often watchmen do not solely eliminate the threat. A single trumpet blower cannot destroy an invading army. A lone sniper cannot stop an armored convoy from storming the base. But they can get everyone prepared to fight back as a group. For those that heed the warning it is the difference between life and death.

And so that is the impact: saved lives. When this is kept in mind it makes the rejection, the resistance, and the loneliness of being a watchman worth it.

Not only that but the reward we have to look forward to from obeying our Father’s instructions is unimaginable. God knows how difficult this role can be. He knows full well that many watchmen will suffer tremendously in obeying His will. He also knows that our reward will far surpass even the worst suffering we could receive. And so He has us march onward toward His calling for us.

Think about how many people would have been lost if Jonah never went to Nineveh and finally preached repentance. What about if King Josiah didn’t make the entire kingdom get rid of all their idols and return to following God? Or how about Elijah taking on the 450 prophets of Baal to prove who the one TRUE God was?

A single watchman can make a huge impact. That is because a watchman is empowered by God through His Holy Spirit to carry out His work. And He holds all the power necessary to save us from any evil or unrighteousness.

Never forget that watchman. When the days seem long and the journey is tough, remember who holds you. Take courage and inspiration from His presence and the examples He’s left for us in His Holy Scriptures. God bless you.
