Humility Is...Sample

That’s so awkward!
One of the most incredible displays of humility in the Bible is when Jesus washes His disciples' feet during the Passover meal (John 13:3-7).
He portrays such great humility that it makes the disciples uncomfortable. Simon Peter exclaims, “No, You shall never wash my feet” (John 13:8 NIV). Awkward!
True humility can be uncomfortable to be around because it reveals the areas in our own hearts where we are still holding on to pride or a sense of position. When we are then met with the unexpected kindness, understanding, and selflessness that flows from genuine humility, it throws us off, just like Peter.
But here’s the paradox: while humility can make us uncomfortable, it’s also incredibly attractive. Humble people are easy to be around. They are not easily offended and aren’t obsessed with themselves, but show genuine interest in others.
The most attractive quality of humble people is that they are free.
Free from strife. Free from pride. Free from selfish ambition.
Jesus has paid for that freedom:
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" – Galatians 5:1 NIV.
Pride, ego, and anger are the opposite of humility, and they can become a yoke that enslaves us.
Has it ever happened to you that anger just overtakes you? Or that your ego comes in the way? They are controlling and toxic traits that will grip us if we let them.
Humility, on the other hand–and all the beautiful fruits that flow from it–is a choice.
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" – Colossians 3:12 NIV.
Clothing yourself doesn’t happen automatically; it requires effort, such as picking out your clothes and putting them on. The same is true for humility; you need to actively choose it.
Will you choose the freedom of humility or the yoke of pride and anger? It’s up to you!
Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
