Thriving Family: What Is Love?

DAY 6 OF 6

Love Always Hopes

Play. Teach your children a new trick such as whistling, snapping their fingers, blowing a bubble with gum or saying a difficult tongue twister.

Talk. Learning something new can be hard. You may even feel like giving up; but if you believe you will learn and keep trying, eventually you'll get it! When someone doesn’t treat us nicely, we may feel like giving up on that relationship and or no longer loving that person. But 1 Corinthians 13.7 teaches us that loving someone means never losing hope that things will change for the better. God loves us this way. Even when we do wrong, He loves us and never gives up on us. What are some ways that you can show hopeful love to others?

Pray. Thank God for always having hope in you, and ask Him to help you hope for the best for others.

Day 5

About this Plan

Thriving Family: What Is Love?

The Bible focuses on "what love is" in 1st Corinthians. This well-known list includes patience, kindness, protection, hope, not being self-seeking and not holding a grudge. With these concrete characteristics, parents can explore God's love with their children in these family devotions. The goal is to have children internalize these attributes. If they do, they can better understand how to love others.
