Dedication (S4-E6)Sample

Sheep and shepherds on my mind
In this scene, Jesus watches a shepherd at work. Judas stands beside Him, and Jesus says: “Look, he calls them by name.”
Jesus tells Judas he has “sheep and shepherds on His mind.” What about you? What’s been on your mind lately?
Shepherds lead sheep, and sheep follow the shepherd. Both are important.
Who leads you? Who do you lead? And where are you heading together?
In John 10, Jesus says, “I am the gate for the sheep.” Through the gate, we go in and out, finding safety and life. There’s no other way into the fold, no shortcut or secret entrance. Jesus is very clear that there’s only one way to enter God’s Kingdom: through Him.
Then Jesus says: “I am the Good Shepherd.”
He leads, protects, and walks with you on your journey.
He is “good” through and through. And He stands in contrast to all the other “shepherds” that want to lead us the wrong way.
Can you say you’re following this Good Shepherd?
Ephesians 4 reminds us that God gives shepherds to His people–those who care, guide gently, and help others grow in faith. This is not only about pastors or leaders; it can be anyone who listens, encourages, and walks beside another person. It could be you.
Look around. Could you be a shepherd for someone by showing up, caring, and reminding them of Jesus’ love? Follow his example, and be that presence for them today.
Reflection Questions
- What does it mean to you that Jesus knows you by your name?
- How do you recognize Jesus’ voice in the middle of all the other voices around you?
- Who has shepherded you, and who might need your care right now?
- How can you follow Jesus’ example this week?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the Good Shepherd. You call me by name and walk beside me. Help me to listen to your voice and to care for others the way You care for me. Amen.
