Living Inside Out: Developing a Practical Awareness of Who You Are in ChristSample

HABITS OF THE NEW YOU
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
You’ve probably heard the phrase “Old habits die hard,” right? Well, that’s especially true when you’ve got a brand-new identity in Christ but old routines from your BC (Before Christ) day’s still trying to hang around. God gives you a new nature, but He doesn’t throw out your toothbrush; meaning, you’re still responsible for forming new habits that match your new identity.
In all honesty, your identity in Christ should show up in your search engine history, your social media posts, how you treat customers or co-workers, if you're into the business or corporate world, and even in your reaction to individuals who may be difficult. Yes, your holiness is tested when people deliberately step on your toes without apologies. But don’t panic, transformation is a process. Small, intentional habits reinforce what God already says about you.
Daily devotionals (like this one!), prayer, Scripture meditation, worship, and journaling are powerful ways to stay rooted in your new identity. It’s like watering a plant; you don’t grow by straining, you grow by staying connected to the Source. Want to see the fruit of the Spirit? Start building the habits that give room for the Spirit.
And when you slip (because we all do), don’t say “I’ve failed again,” say “I’m growing.” That shift in perspective alone can help you bounce back quicker. Progress isn’t perfection; it’s intentionality. So, let the real you show up consistently. That’s the power of identity-informed habits.
Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You that I am a new creation in Christ. Help me to develop new habits that support the new life You’ve given me. Strengthen me to remain consistent and enjoy the process of becoming who I already am in You.
