Knowing GodSample

To truly know Him
I still remember the moment I realised just how well I knew my best friend. I’d been planning her hen’s party, and everything came together perfectly – the people, the food, a whole weekend dedicated to her favourite things. She laughed, cried, and said, ‘This is so me!’ I didn’t just know about her; I knew her. What she loved, what made her uncomfortable, what made her come alive. That’s the difference between knowing about someone and truly knowing them.
Sometimes we treat God like an acquaintance – someone we nod politely to at church, whose stories we’ve heard but whose heart we don’t really know. If we slow down long enough, we can change that. Jesus came not just to show us who God is, but to make relationship possible. Through Him, we’re invited to know God personally – His character, His compassion, His heartbeat for us. The more time we spend with Him, the more familiar His voice becomes. We start to recognise His fingerprints in the ordinary moments and trust His presence in the hard ones. To know God is to walk with Him daily, not perfectly but personally – learning, listening, laughing, and sometimes just sitting quietly in His company.
Reflect: Do I know about God, or do I truly know Him? How can I spend time with Him today in a way that deepens our relationship?
Prayer: God, I want to know You – not just facts or verses, but Your heart. Teach me to walk closely with You and to recognise Your presence in every moment. Amen.
