Day 2: Make Room for New Wine
God is pouring out new wine, and humility is the wineskin that can hold it. Pride can hide behind strong opinions, spiritual language, or the comfort of being familiar. It can even call itself discernment while it quietly resists what the Holy Spirit is doing. The danger is being close to a move of God and still missing it because the heart stays closed.
Jesus teaches that new wine cannot be poured into old wineskins. Old wineskins are not just traditions. They are rigid mindsets, man-made rules, and an approach to faith that values control more than surrender. New wine requires a new posture. It requires childlike trust. It requires an open heart that lets Jesus lead, even when His ways stretch what feels normal.
Judgment and spiritual superiority never produce revival. They produce distance. The Holy Spirit draws people through love that carries power, not through harshness that pushes people away. God’s move will often offend pride because it exposes what is performative and calls believers back to simple devotion. When the heart becomes teachable again, the Spirit can pour freely again.
Let today be a reset. Lay down the need to be right, impressive, or comfortable. Choose humility that listens. Choose hunger that receives. God is not asking for a guarded life. He is inviting you into a heart that can carry what He is releasing in this hour.
Reflection Questions:
- Where does resistance rise when God moves in ways that feel unfamiliar or unexpected?
- What “old wineskin” mindset might be limiting what God wants to pour into your life right now?
- How has pride tried to disguise itself as wisdom or strength, and what would humility look like instead?
- What would change if childlike trust shaped the way you approach the Holy Spirit this week?
Prayer:
Lord, let the heart stay soft and teachable. Expose pride, fear, and rigid thinking that blocks what You want to do. Pour new wine and form a humble spirit that welcomes Your move with joy. Amen.
