The Love EffectSample

The Prodigal Father
The story of the prodigal son is often told through the lens of failure, but at its core, it is a revelation of a Father whose love is prodigious, extravagant, patient, and restoring. Jesus tells us that while the son was still far off, the father saw him, ran toward him, embraced him, and kissed him (Luke 15:20). Love moved first.
This Father created more than a house; he built a home. A place where repentance felt possible and return felt safe. He never stopped watching, never stopped hoping. And when his son came back broken, the Father did not rehearse the past. Instead, he restored identity immediately.
The love of the Father restores before it corrects. It replaces shame with sonship and fear with belonging. Even when the older son struggled with resentment, the Father responded with humility, reminding him of his identity, inheritance, and shared joy (Luke 15:31).
This is the Love Effect: love that runs toward the broken, restores dignity, and pursues unity. If you feel distant today, remember God is not waiting to punish you. He is watching for you. Home is still open.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me with a restoring love. Where I have wandered, draw me home. Remove shame, renew my identity, and help me walk confidently as Your child. Teach me to love as You love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
