Go deeper and do it again
Reflection:
Jesus did not ignore Peter’s exhaustion or failure, but He did not allow it to lead the decision. Past disappointment is real, yet it is not a reliable guide for present obedience. Peter had experience, evidence, and emotion saying stop, but Jesus gave instructions saying go deeper. Obedience required returning to the same water with a different posture. Faith often asks us to do again what pain tells us to avoid. Speaking defeat after failure can close doors that obedience was meant to open. God’s instructions are not limited by our last outcome. When Peter obeyed, creativity met obedience, and provision followed. The miracle was not only the catch, but the willingness to trust again. Going deeper means moving past comfort, familiarity, and fear. Many give up too soon, mistaking delay for denial. Yet the next miracle is often on the other side of simple obedience. God’s word carries direction, provision, and impact beyond ourselves. Peter’s obedience required partners because the harvest was bigger than one boat. God’s blessings are designed to overflow into others’ lives.
Application:
Identify one place where past failure has made you cautious. Refuse to speak defeat over it again. Listen for God’s instruction and obey without delay. Take a step that stretches your faith. Go deeper than before. Do it again, trusting God to use your obedience to bless others.
Prayer:
Lord, I choose obedience over past disappointment. Lead me deeper, and use creativity to bring blessing to others, Amen, today.
