Day 3: The Original Wound
Healing only makes sense if something has been wounded.
Genesis tells us that humanity was formed with care and intimacy. God did not simply speak us into existence. He formed us from the dust and breathed his own life into us. We were created in love and for love. That is our origin and our destiny.
But we do not live at the beginning or the end of the story. We live in between.
In Genesis 3, something fractures. What is often called the original sin can also be called the original wound. When humanity chose independence from God, the effects were immediate and far reaching. Bodies were affected. Shame entered the human experience. Fear replaced trust. Relationships fractured. Blame replaced unity.
This is why healing is not optional. It is necessary.
We experience the effects of that first wound in physical suffering. We experience it in anxiety and shame. We experience it in broken relationships and deep emotional pain. None of us escapes it.
The important truth is this. Your wounds are not your fault. You did not choose to live in a broken world. But how you respond to your wounds is your responsibility.
God’s original design was wholeness. His desire has not changed. Healing is about restoring what was fractured and drawing us back to the love for which we were created.
Talk It Over
Where do you most clearly feel the effects of living in a broken world right now?
Prayer
Father, you formed me with care and breathed your life into me. Where sin and brokenness have left wounds in my body, my heart, or my relationships, bring your restoring grace. Help me take responsibility for how I respond to my wounds and lead me toward healing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

We all carry wounds. Some are visible. Others are hidden beneath the surface. Some are physical. Others are emotional, relational, or spiritual. Some are fresh and raw. Others are old and familiar. The question is not whether we are wounded. The question is what we do with our wounds. Throughout the Gospels, healing is not a side note in Jesus’ ministry. It is central. He heals bodies, restores relationships, confronts lies, and brings life where there was despair. Yet healing is not mechanical. It is mysterious. It requires faith. It requires participation. And it unfolds in relationship.
