When Roles Reverse: Understanding Parentification Through ScriptureSample

God’s Order for Parents and Children
God designed families with intentional roles. Parents are called to provide, nurture, and guide their children. Children are called to honor and respect their parents. When this order functions properly, it creates security and stability.
Parentification happens when this natural order is reversed. A child may begin to carry emotional, financial, or decision-making responsibilities that belong to parents. While this sometimes develops out of difficult circumstances, it can create pressure that children were never designed to carry.
Scripture reminds us that parents are meant to prepare and provide for their children. This structure allows children to grow emotionally, spiritually, and mentally at the right pace.
God’s design is not about control; it is about protection and healthy development.
Reflect
Have you ever felt responsible for problems that were beyond your age or capacity?
Prayer
Lord, help me understand Your order for family relationships and bring healing where roles have been confused.
