Day Three
Your Desires Begin to Change
One of the most visible signs of genuine salvation is a shift in what we love and what we desire. Things that once brought us pleasure may begin to feel hollow or even distasteful. Meanwhile, a hunger for God's Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers grows within us. This is not something we manufacture through willpower but a natural result of the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts.
Paul describes this as walking by the Spirit rather than by the flesh. When we live according to our old sinful nature, we produce the works of the flesh. We struggle with sexual immorality, impurity, hatred, jealousy, and selfish ambition.
But when we walk in step with the Spirit, we bear fruit like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are not self-manufactured but are the natural changes that start happening through a Spirit-filled life.
As we continue to walk with God, pay attention to the changes happening within us. Notice how our priorities are shifting, how certain sins that once had a strong grip on our lives are losing their power, and how we are drawn to things that honor God. This is evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work, conforming us to the image of Christ. Cooperate with His work by surrendering daily to His leading and choosing to walk in obedience.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Ezekiel 36:26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for the new desires you are placing within my heart. Help me to recognize and resist the pull of my old sinful nature. Fill me with your Spirit so that I may bear fruit that glorifies you. Strengthen my desire for your Word, for prayer, and for fellowship with other believers. In Jesus' name, Amen.
