Life Experiences: Lessons From the Book of LukeSample
Worry-Freak Antidote!
I'm a self-confess worrier! Who isn't? There was even a recent crisis that I went through because I worried much more than I should. It clouded my joy of living in the present and darkened my perspective about my future. Worrying, I learned badly, are evil and a destroyer of happiness.
When we become followers of Christ we don't automatically reboot to become worry-free and it doesn't immediately change our default nature as non-worrier. That is the reason why Jesus particularly gave a lot of messages on not to worry!
We worry about our food to eat, our clothes to wear and our savings! These are basic needs and concern for the future.
I so love the Bible passages talking about it…
"There is more to life than eating. There are more important things for the body than clothes."
"Can you add even more hour to your life by worrying? You can't do that very little thing. So why worry about the rest?"
"Don't spend time thinking about what you will eat or drink. Don't worry about it. People who are ungodly run after all of those things. Your Father knows that you need them."
But the best passage is what really makes worrying very passive: "But put God's kingdom first. Then those other things will also be given to you."
It comes across to me as: Prioritize what God prioritizes...What does God prioritize? Loving! (1) Loving Him, and (2) Loving other people.
...and all the things that we needed and all our concerns for the future will be provided well!
Prayer for Today: God my provider, thank You once again for reminding me that worrying doesn't add anything to life! Please let me be at peace in You about my daily needs and my concerns for tomorrow!
Help me first to discover Your priority and make me prioritize it too! Let me learn to love You and those people whom You allow to cross my path in this life's journey. Thank You for this great thought today...in Jesus name...
