Making Ways

DAY 2 OF 3

Day 2: Power in Praise — Thanking God for His Ways

Psalm 92 says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.”

There is something about pausing to reflect on God’s goodness. It is medicine for our hearts, it brings joy to our spirits, and it stirs up faith. I believe it is good for our soul because we were made to praise Him. What are you thanking God for today?

I think of all the ways and moments we can praise Him: praise Him in the storm, praise Him before the miracle, praise Him after the miracle, praise Him in faith.

Hannah, Samuel’s mother, comes to mind when I think of praise. She was unable to have children and was ridiculed for it. Until one day, she poured out her heart to the Lord, and He heard her prayer. In due time, she became pregnant, and she praised God for it:

“Then Hannah prayed and said: ‘My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.’”
1 Samuel 2:1-2 NIV

I also think of the Israelites, who praised and worshiped the Lord as they stepped into battle against the Moabites and Ammonites, who had waged war against them. As they worshiped, the Lord’s presence went before them, which resulted in victory and peace on every side.

I think of Paul and Silas praising God in prison, and how the Lord sent a violent earthquake that shook the foundations of the jail. The prison doors swung wide open, and their chains became loose. But God did all of that for the soul of the jailer, who then accepted Jesus into his heart along with his entire household. I thank God that He was making ways.

I’m amazed recalling these moments of praise to God and how they stir up our faith. They remind us how vast, wide, and great God’s love for us truly is. There is nothing impossible for Him. He can deliver us, heal us, go before us, and chase after us with His everlasting love. A love so great that He made a way for us to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. I thank God for His ways.

Let’s pause and remind ourselves of all the ways He has been good to us. Take some time to reflect and thank God for those moments.

Prayer

Oh Lord, I thank You for Your wonderful works in my life. Thank You for seeing me and saving me. I thank You for Your miracle-working hand in my life. Help me remain rooted in this posture of gratitude for Your goodness. Thank You for making a way for me to be in relationship with You. I love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
