DAY 2 OF 3

Day 2: The Film Room – Learning from the Mistakes of the Patros

Every elite team reviews their film. They study what went wrong—not to stay stuck in the past, but to grow stronger and wiser. God invites us to do the same. Discipleship requires honest reflection—starting with ourselves.

Let's take a quick glance of of reels of some of the founders of the faith.

Abraham panicked and lied. Isaac let favoritism fracture his family. Jacob deceived his own father. And these were some of the first Patros; the founding fathers of our faith. And their lives show us this truth: discipleship isn't about perfection; it's about intentional progress.

You don’t need to be flawless to be a father figure. You just need to be faithful. What made these men different wasn't their résumé—it was their response. They came back to God again and again. They repented. They wrestled with their faith and grew stronger because of it.

Joseph—the fruit of this legacy—knew pain, betrayal, and injustice. But instead of bitterness, he chose forgiveness. He told his brothers, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.” That’s the language of a man who knows his spiritual heritage. That’s generational wisdom in action.

When we model repentance, humility, and grace, we give those we disciple something better than rules—we give them the blueprint of restoration. That’s what discipleship is: walking with others, even in failure, toward the redemptive love of God.

You may feel unqualified or inexperienced to mentor and disciple others. You might say, "My past mistakes are too many." Well, get in line—because that’s exactly who God puts on His team!

Call to Action: Get Real. Get Right. Reflect on where you’ve messed up. Then confess it. Repent. Don’t hide your scars—let them disciple someone else.

Patros Prayer:
Father God,
Thank You for using broken men, like me. I bring You my past mistakes and ask You to turn them into teaching moments. Let my weakness be a doorway to Your strength—for me, and for the ones You bring to me to disciple.
In Jesus' Name, Amen!

About this Plan

Forward Faith

In the game of life and in faith, many men have fumbled the responsibility of passing down wisdom and identity to the next generation. We as men have "dropped the ball" but the game isn’t over. It’s time to recover the ball and lead with purpose. In this 3-day Bible plan, we’ll look at the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the original fathers of the faith; the Patros—and learn how to disciple, mentor, and lead with boldness and legacy. It's not about perfection. It's about presence, persistence, and passing forward faith.
