Kong Hee: Found In The Arms Of GodSample
When You Feel Down And Out
I’m typically a very positive person, so I never thought I’d ever struggle with depression until it hit me awhile back. And when it happened, it was traumatic. I locked myself in my home. I couldn’t get up in the morning. I just laid on my bed, closed the curtains, and literally lived in darkness.
If you’ve ever experienced depression, you know the feeling—it feels like you were dropped into a dark bottomless hole, and you just keep sinking down and down with no hope in sight. That’s how I felt. But one day, I was invited to a time of worship with some of my closest friends. I went because I felt God telling me to go.
As we started singing, all my suppressed disappointments, anger, frustration, and pent-up emotions just came up to the surface and was given over to the Lord. It was like a dam breaking loose within my heart as I wept in the Lord’s presence.
God promises that He is “near to those who have a broken heart” (Ps. 34:18). Maybe today, you can relate to my story about being in the depths of depression. Or, perhaps you just feel a little down. Whatever it is, press into Jesus. He can bring you out of the pit into His loving embrace as you give your worries and cares to Him!
Prayer for the day:
Hand over your emotional pain to God and let Him bring refreshment and restoration into your life today.
