Starting The Journey - Disciple Makers Series Sample
Answers to old Unresolved Questions
Here are three things that the Jewish people understood. First, God protecting His people by giving them a dream to go to Egypt. Before Egypt put Israel into slavery and bondage, it was a place of protection. Israel never forgot that. So going to Egypt for protection was something they expected God would do. Second, God fulfils two prophecies in this passage. The Jewish people knew about these prophecies and that God would fulfil them with the Messiah. Third, they now have a reason for a terrible massacre of little children. We often ask God “Why did You allow this to happen?” In this case, the people finally find out. It was years later, but God gave them the answer.
Are you waiting for answers? Let God reveal it in His time. He will. Do you need direction from God? Keep a close ear to His voice – He will give it.
Time to Pray
Father, sometimes I pray for direction and answers but struggle with what You give. Help me today to listen carefully to You and Your Word. Help me to respond quickly just as Joseph did, even if it is difficult and may not make sense to me. Father, I understand that some prayers take a long time to get an answer or some things do not make sense. I wait and wait for You to reveal why You allow things – and I do not understand why. Help me to learn from this passage that You will give us the answer in due time. Keep me walking by faith until that time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
