Be My Vision

If you want to achieve something great for God, in this world with so many distractions, it is very important to remain focused on Jesus and the vision He has given you for your life. I’ve heard so many young people tell me that they are called to do one thing and then a little while later, it changes to something else. Usually this happens when times are tough. Challenges will come in this life, especially when God has called you to do something that no one has ever done before. 

When God called us to establish the Planetshakers ministry and begin touring around the world, few people were able to give us advice because the call was uniquely ours.

When we encountered some challenges and hurdles along the way, well meaning, experienced people tried to convince us to adjust our sound to appeal to a wider audience. It was tempting to follow their advice because we had never navigated these obstacles before. However, we knew Jesus had called us to make a certain sound, to exude an uncommon level of passion in our praise and worship and to speak the ‘language of the day’ by incorporating sounds that were appealing to the world and not just the church. Though well intentioned, these other voices pulled us in many directions bringing confusion and chaos, and distracting us temporarily from our God-given mandate that has never changed! We had to remain focused on what God had called us to do without compromise. Similarly, when we first felt God call us to the city of Melbourne, Australia, to plant our very first Planetshakers church, we felt Him instruct us to position it in the heart of the city and to start with a 5pm service on Sundays. Many people advised us against these decisions declaring that no one would come to church at that time on a Sunday nor want to travel into the city from the suburbs. Thankfully we obeyed God’s word and there was not enough room to contain the crowds! We had to turn people away. Since then we have grown exponentially! 

Staying focussed helps you to keep moving forward and enables you to grow and expand far beyond your natural abilities. This is especially true when our focus is on Jesus! He is the one who will empower you to overcome in the hard times, heal you when you get hurt along the way, be with you when you feel isolated and alone, and see you finish your race like the winner He knows you are!
