Storms and Our Perspective

Thoughts on the message

Fisherman afraid of a storm – you know it is scary weather.

Jesus asleep in that storm – you know how tired He was.

Has Jesus ever done something for you that stopped you cold?  For the disciples, He stopped the wind and the waves – instantly.  Sometimes we think we know Jesus, and then He does something special for us.  We realize that He is greater than we imagine.  What did it take to get this understanding?  They asked.  

What could have shown greater faith?  Their ship could have sunk – and they all walked on water to the shore!!  Do not think all miracles are things that get us out of trouble.  Sometimes, the greatest ones come with God getting us through the problems we face – in ways that bring honor to Him.

Time to Pray

Father, today I want to exercise my faith.  I have friends in need of special help.  I ask for blessing for them as they deal with the challenges they face.  I have people around me who face great difficulty.  Walk with them through these so that they will be stronger next time they face such problems – because they know their God and what He does for them.  I ask for joy in my heart this week as I face some of my own towering mountains to climb.  Either move the mountains or give me the strength to climb them.  Either way, bring honor to Your name.  In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
