God is Good - Bill JohnsonSample

It is a mistake to think that when Jesus cried out, “It is finished,” He was merely proclaiming that His life as a man living on earth was over. Both the Law and the Prophets had rightfully made a judgment on humanity, for God Himself declared, “The person who sins shall die!” (Ezek. 18:20). The power of this judgment was so strong that if Jesus had not come for one hundred thousand years, and trillions of people had lived during that time, it rightfully would have damned every single one and still not have been satisfied in its demands. Jesus came to quench the appetite of that unquenchable fire by meeting the requirements of the Law and the Prophets.
When He said, “It is finished,” He was declaring, “The appetite of the Law and Prophets has been satisfied once and for all! It’s a new day.” As a result, we each go from a slave to a possessor of the Kingdom in a moment: transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light, from being the one who has no rights in God to suddenly being the eternal dwelling place of God Himself.
