Thrive. A 14-Day Devotional for Singles

DAY 8 OF 14

Trustworthy God

Do you believe that God is trustworthy? I mean really really believe it? I confess that when it comes to God’s trustworthiness, my faith can sometimes be shaky. I want to rest in him, but I tend to curb my enthusiasm instead. I want to believe him completely, but I choose to dim my hope in the outcome instead. It feels safer that way. But here’s the thing: hoping in God for a good outcome, whether in dating or for your dreams to come true demands the unflinching belief in the trustworthiness of God. To lose hope or to withhold hope or to stifle hope is to refuse to believe in the goodness of God. The challenge is that the only way to maintain this kind of hope is by faith: faith in the promises of God, faith in the character of God, faith in the goodness of God proven to us in Christ Jesus on the cross of Calvary. To truly believe the trustworthiness of God always demands that we go back to the cross. Because Christ died for me, I can rest in Him no matter what I’m going through. Because Christ died for me, I have the confidence that He will give me exactly what I need when I need it. Do you believe that? Do you trust God completely?

Questions:

How can you tell if you’re trusting God completely right now? How does the truth of Christ’s death on the cross give you hope to rejoice as a single Christian?

About this Plan

Thrive. A 14-Day Devotional for Singles

Despite what many people think, singleness is not a disease. It’s not the lesser option. Singleness is God’s gift to you today. In Thrive, Lina AbuJamra – who has been single for over 50 years – will show you how you can make a difference with your life right now instead of sitting around waiting for something to happen to you. If you’re ready to figure out what God has to say about singleness instead of relying on your own feelings and conclusions, this plan is for you.
