Grace Anna Sings: Navigating ChangeSample
Change is not always something we choose but a consequence of what we have chosen to do in life. God loves us and wants what is best for us, but He will not force us to do what is right and true to His word. If we continue to go against His word and follow our own selfish path, the change that comes can be a downward spiral into chaos.
For a brief moment in my early twenties, I turned my back on what God wanted for me. I stopped going to church, quit reading His word, and concentrated on fulfilling my wants. It wasn’t pretty. I was miserable and never felt more alone. I allowed my stubbornness to keep me from just asking God to forgive me and get my life back on track. Change continued in ways I didn’t want, I felt as if I was on a merry-go-round that would not stop. I spun myself into a moment that broke a small part of my spirit.
Shattered and torn I walked away from my self-centered existence and back to God. There were aftershocks later in life because of the time I chose to spend away from God, but I was able to withstand the unsettling consequences through my daily walk with Christ.
We must live lives that coincide with God’s word, trying our best to serve Him and His purpose, if we decide to only hear and not follow His word, we have only ourselves to blame when our life changes into a hot mess. If you’ve found yourself already in the pit of despair, running from God, turn around and seek Him. He will welcome you into His arms and renew your spirit.
