The Promised One預覽
Victorious Power
The Light of the World came to this earth in the humblest of ways, as a baby laid in a manger. Though angels sang to accompany His arrival, and the shepherds ran to see Him, the city of Bethlehem was not aware that the Prince of Peace had come.
But when the Light of the world conquered darkness, it was in full view for all to see. The Roman Empire, the religious Jewish elite, and tens of thousands of Jews were all in the city of Jerusalem for Passover. Jesus was tried, flogged and executed in public. In the midst of spiritual and physical darkness (Luke 23:45-46), Jesus willingly gave up his life and broke the power of sin.
Jesus hadn’t come to save Himself, but to save the world. On a cross atop Mount Moriah, the victory was won! As Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn, giving everyone access to God’s presence. In that moment, even the centurion saw and confessed the power of God in Jesus’s death, stating “Surely he was the Son of God!" (Matthew 27:54)
And then, just as He said, three days later, He rose again! His resurrection declared that He was not only victorious over sin but over the grave! Death is swallowed up forever, and now we can echo Isaiah 25:9 -
“Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
Our glorious God has won, and through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus, offers salvation to all people. This is the message of Christmas. This is why the Light had come. So that darkness and death could no longer rule over us. Through Christ we are forgiven!
What sins has Jesus conquered in your life personally? Have you told anyone about His victorious power?
