Good Ideas Vs. God Ideas In Business

God Idea Characteristic #3: God ideas may defy your common sense, logic, or previous experience.

Often times we limit God to be a mere man when He’s anything but. He is all powerful, all knowing, and always present. We know this, but yet we still attempt to rationalize with God about our circumstances as if He is unaware of them.

The story of King Jehoshaphat of Judah is one of the greatest examples of a God idea in action that simply defies all logic. King Jehoshaphat faced a major crisis that threatened his entire nation when three nations joined together (forming a sizable army) and launched an invasion against Judah. Jehoshaphat’s army was clearly outnumbered, and when he found out about the invasion, he proclaimed a day of fasting and prayer to seek God for an answer. He was looking for a God idea, not just a good idea.

God’s idea was one that completely defied common sense! He told Jehoshaphat (through a prophet) that his army would not have to fight at all and that the battle belonged completely to the Lord. Jehoshaphat put the choir in front of the army and they marched to meet the enemy...singing and worshipping God. When the enemy heard the army of Judah approaching, they were thrown into a tailspin of confusion and killed each other. By the time, Jehoshaphat’s army reached the battlefield, they realized everyone was already dead!

You’re going into battle against a vast army and instead of putting your bravest soldiers out front, you choose to lead with singers? That is a God idea in action.

In my entrepreneurial journey I’ve had a number of God ideas that defied the wisdom of man, including the timing of the departure of my corporate career to transition to full time entrepreneurship, the launching of an organization called Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur in partnership with someone I had no prior relationship with, the creation of unusual pricing structures for mentoring programs, and so much more. In each of these scenarios, my choice to be faithful and obedient to the "crazy instructions" God gave me yielded so much more than I ever could’ve imagined.
