Is There Really? Devotions From Time Of Grace預覽
Is there really a heaven?
There is good news here on the skepticism front—polls consistently show that more people believe in the existence of heaven than hell. Hurray! Unfortunately, though, it seems as if the great majority are universalists—they assume that everybody has a right to enter heaven upon death. Have you ever in all your life attended a funeral where the presider or obituary reader didn’t assume the soul of the departed was in heaven? But God’s Word is clear—only those who repent of their sins and believe and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior will enter.
Scripture has much to say about the beauty and peace and joy that await us. What a comfort for people whose earthly lives have been hard. I am really looking forward to heaven, but my anticipation is as nothing compared with people who have ALS, spina bifida, severe depression, or Parkinson’s: “I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. . . . He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.’” (Revelation 21:2-4).
The Holy Book whose story began with God’s creation and mankind’s miserable fall concludes with the restoration of all the believers. Heaven is our ultimate destination.
Look up! Live with heaven sparkling in your eyes.
