Exceptional Bible Characters預覽
Caleb, although honoured by God Himself, was not originally one of God's people (he was the the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite). Joining the Israelites as they left Egypt, he was a part of the tribe of Judah, and was one of the 12 spies chosen to explore the promised land. He and Joshua were the only ones who had faith that God would lead them into the land. And subsequently, when God punished the Israelites with 40 years in the desert for their unbelief and rebellion against His commands, Caleb (along with Joshua) was given a special concession: God promised that he would enter the land. Caleb chose to be a part of God's people; he chose to follow God wholeheartedly. He saw the promised land through eyes of faith, when the majority of God's people were fearful and doubted God. Caleb had a 'different spirit'. He chose to stand for God and His purposes.
Question: Can you empathize with Caleb, standing up for God's way, trusting in God's promises, despite the prevailing sentiment? What does it mean to you, to follow God wholeheartedly?
