Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & Mercy

31天中的第23天

August 23

Introduction

Chapters 19-32 recount the time when the Israelites were camped at Mount Sinai and Moses received from God the laws for the people. In today’s reading, God tells Moses to lead the people away from Mount Sinai toward the land of Canaan, the land promised to Abraham and his descendants. But God declares that he will not accompany the people on their journey. Today’s reading concludes with a description of the Tent of the LORD’s presence.

Today’s Scripture: Exodus 33:11a

The LORD would speak with Moses face-to-face, just as someone speaks with a friend.

Today’s Reading

Exodus 33:1-11

Reflect

Reread verse 7-9. How did the LORD speak to Moses?  In 1 Corinthians 13:12, the apostle Paul writes: “What we now see is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete—as complete as God’s knowledge of me.” How does this passage shed light on Moses’s encounter with God?

Pray

God of love and mercy, for now I see into a mirror dimly, with the hopes that one day your glory will be fully revealed to me. Assure me with the knowledge of your continual presence, that I may be ready to see you face to face. In your holy name I pray, Amen.

Prayer Concern

Those facing uncertainty in their lives

Tomorrow’s Reading

Exodus 33:12-23: The LORD promises to be with the people.
