Definition: Submission
Webster's Dictionary: The state of being obedient; the act of accepting the authority or control of someone else.
Fully submitting to God's divine plan for your life is a bold thing to do because it is a multi-leveled action and personal availability. Not only does this mean that you have given God your 'yes' but you have also given Him your 'no'. In the thick of your submission lies the yielding of your total discretion to God and available for his use. This is a complete surrender to God's will. It's bold in the fact that God is a priority—the main source for everything concerning you and your life. Your trust, at this point, has been completely amplified. That's huge!
There is a particular character in the bible who displayed great boldness in her time, Deborah. Deborah was a prophetess and a civil leader (Judges 4:4-5). It also just so happens that her years of service as a judge occurred during a tumultuous time for her and her people, the Israelites.
Unfortunately, due to the habitual cycle of drifting and indulging in sin, the Israelites suffered from constant oppression from very harsh leaders. So, Deborah's appointment could not have been at a worse time. She was a woman in leadership with the following functions: administration, settlement of disputes, and military leadership. In those days, this was not only dangerous but unheard of! Yet, Deborah fully submitted to God and the plans that he established for her life, which caused her to make many bold moves. Her boldness in submission inspired life-changing possibilities:
- Paved a way for women to display the ability to successfully perform in a male-dominated industry and role.
- Demonstrated that what may appear as impossible to man is no match for God!
- A true depiction of your gifts having the ability to make room for you. Deborah's prophetic anointing distinguished her from the other judges and enhanced her ability to serve in this role.
God can do the same and so much more through us. But it requires making a bold move in rendering total submission of ourselves to Him, which ultimately contributes to a greater purpose than ourselves. Like Deborah, the impact of our availability to God can be explosive and very meaningful to others.
Affirmation: I submit my life to God!

Many have it all wrong about the Christian faith. There is a deceptive notion that once Jesus is accepted in their heart, all issues disappear and suffering ends. Others believe that they are exempt from experiencing such pain. Do not be deceived! In this walk, suffering is inevitable, but we have a promise. With that, we can proceed in life with boldness because we are backed by God!
