“I GOT YOUR BACK!”
Who’s got your back? And do you have someone’s back?
The number one killer of unity amongst any team is selfishness. I’ve seen teams with tremendous talent lose because of selfish, self-centered players. If the team is not in sync, this can ruin their game because of disunity. Bottom line: If you don’t work together, you can’t win together. On the contrary, if you work together, you can win together.
My daughters have played volleyball for years and what I love about team sports is that each player is needed in order to win a game. Every player has a unique position to play that must be played well. If a player has an off day or off game, other players have to step it up and make sure they will win together. I’ll often hear them say to one another, “I got your back.”
“I Got Your Back” literally means I am here for you no matter what. I am here to encourage you and to speak truth into your life. I AM HERE! Just like Jesus! Jesus has your back all the time and He said He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Have you ever found a group of friends that “got your back?” Are you a friend that has your friend’s back?
I lead an annual women’s conference in Hawaii called Arise Conference, and I love my Arise team because we have built a culture of “teamwork.” Everyone plays her part, and everyone brings her best game forward. One of my favorite aspects of preparing for conference is when our prayer team prays over the Arise team and me. We spend time praying for every single woman coming to conference as well as pray for one another. A tradition we started is to end these prayer nights in a circle, with our backs to each other and with our arms linked to symbolize we have each other’s backs.
How amazing is it to have friends that “got your back,” especially when you’re having an off day or a trying season and you just don’t think you can make it.
God always brings people into your life that will help sharpen you to be everything that God intends for you to become. Allow your friendships to go deeper and be that friend/sister that will sharpen one another.
Let’s be players, friends, co-workers and sisters that strive to sharpen one another. Spend some time in prayer, and ask God who you can reach out to today to let them know you have her back. When God gives you a name, text that sister this:
“I got your back when you’re exhausted.
I got your back when you’re confused.
I got your back when you’re lacking.
I got your back when you’re not perfect.
I got your back when you’re in trouble.
I got your back when you’re offended.
I got your back when you’re celebrating.
I GOT YOUR BACK!”
