STAY FIT: Strengthening Your Connection To Jesus預覽
Every day we put our trust in so many things, the majority of which we can’t even begin to understand—things like Newton’s Laws of Motion and Einstein’s Field Equation. We simply trust in these laws of physics and go about our days without giving them a thought. Putting our trust in something is a common practice for all humankind. From scientists to math professors, from engineers to architects, from artists to musicians, and everyone in-between, we all trust in different things. But what if there was something better than simply trusting in something? What if there was another level of trust that provided even more benefits than the laws of physics?
The prophet Jeremiah continually tried to help the people of Israel see God’s plan and know there was something better than simply trusting in. In Jeremiah 17:7, he shared this with the Hebrew nation: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.” RSV
In the next verse, Jeremiah uses a compelling word picture to help us see what it looks like when our trust is the Lord. He says we are like trees planted by a stream that sends out its roots deep into the water. We don’t fear the heat or worry about a drought, our leaves are always green, and we never fail to bear fruit.
What a difference when we move from trusting in the Lord to a place where our trust is the Lord. “Trust in” or “trust is”? When our trust is the Lord, we have a relationship with him that will penetrate every area of our lives. When our trust is the Lord, every decision will flow from the knowledge that he has a plan for our lives; he provides for our every need; he cares for us; and he loves us more than we can love ourselves.
Imagine living a life with less fear, less worry, and the ability to bear more fruit for his kingdom. Today, can you say your trust is the Lord? If you can’t, I encourage you to pray about your next step to grow in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ . . . because your relationship with him is the most important of all.
