Me ... Holy?
At one point Christ told his disciples that unless their righteousness exceeded the scribes and Pharisees they wouldn’t be part of his Kingdom (Matt. 5:20). Not surprisingly, they were stunned. The religious “professionals” spent their lifetimes keeping track of everything that might make them “unclean” or unworthy. How could ordinary fishermen, carpenters and housewives keep up? Then Jesus not only showed them the way, but became the Way!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, my heart is moved today by the sacrifice of Jesus that traded my sin for his holiness. Who could have imagined it? Forgive me for the times I’ve taken your amazing love for granted or disregarded its power. Help me to dedicate myself to a life of holiness with the Spirit’s strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
