DAY 3: Leading Beyond Limitations

Have you ever asked your kids to do something simple, and they start the next sentence with, “but Mom….”? I remember countless times when my boys were trying to get out of doing the dishes or picking up their toys by using that very special word “but”. Kids can be really creative in their disobedience!

When my son Mason was little, he would slip in and out of imaginary characters, “Mr. Harry, the sugar cane truck driver” or “Snake, the Harley Dude”. (We lived in the country, surrounded by sugar cane farms!) So sometimes he insisted that Mason wasn’t available, and “Mr. Harry” didn’t do house work! It is sometimes funny when little ones make excuses for not obeying, however it isn’t as “funny” when we find ourselves as adults doing the very same thing.

No one is more aware of your limitations than YOU. You know your insecurities, weaknesses, and flaws better than anyone else. You even know your hidden thoughts and motivations. Because you know yourself so well! When God calls us UP, we so often answer Him with, “but God…”. Our “buts” often weigh us down, keeping us from pushing forward.

What are the limitations that are holding you back? Take time today and list them out. Is there an area of your heart that is “off limits” to God?

In Numbers 13, we see two men who chose the word “yes” over the word “but”. Joshua and Caleb were men who didn’t let their limitations keep them from saying yes to God. Your comfort zone might not kill you, but it will keep you from the purposes of God.

Don’t let the gravity of your limitations hold you back, you are called to WOMAN UP!
