Rekindle the Romance: Date Your Spouse預覽
Why Did You Date?
Remember when you were falling in love with your spouse? You would go out to dinner. You would go to the movies. You would go for walks. You would go on picnics. You would date! Then it seems like we get married and dating goes out the window! We need to continue to date our spouse even after marriage, and kids, and the chaos of life.
For most of us there are three reasons why we went on dates. Let’s remember those reasons and recapture our date life!
Reason one. You wanted to be with that person. This amazing person made you long to be with them. You didn’t know why, you just did. It was almost as if when you were apart you could do nothing else except think about when you would see them again!
Reason two. You wanted to be seen with that person. You wanted the world to know that you were in a relationship with your future spouse. You wanted to take every opportunity to be seen together. You would walk down the street together holding hands and look to see if other people were watching the two of you (or maybe that was just me)! Being seen together seemed to cement the fact that you were a couple.
Reason three. You wanted to grow the relationship. You wanted to know more and more about this person and wanted to deepen the intimacy you had. There were late nights of long talks just getting to know each other.
You should date your spouse now for the exact same three reasons.
Number one. You need to be with this person. Dating your spouse in the midst of children, jobs, ministry gives you time to be alone just the two of you. Your marriage is kept strong through continuing to date each other.
Number Two. You need to be seen with your spouse. The best thing you can do for your kids is to let them know you and your spouse are in love. Your kids need to see you date each other. It gives them security to know that Mom and Dad are good.
Number Three. You need to grow the relationship. Every relationship is in a cycle of growth or decay. Dating will help keep the growth cycle strong. Late-night talks might not be on the agenda, but early morning talks may be?
Find time to date your spouse and recapture your date life!
