Making Decisions預覽
Choose the Right Connections
The first place we seek counsel when we have challenges is amongst our friends. Friendship is vital in life because we are wired for relationship.
King David had the right kind of connections. Ahithophel was David’s counselor, a man greatly renowned for his sagacity. David had really benefited from Ahithophel's counsel for many years; imagine his panic when he was told that his trusted and wise counsellor had joined forces with his rebel son to upstage him!
To succeed in life, career, ministry and so on, you need the right connections to make better decisions. King David had a vital connection with Jonathan, Saul's son, in fulfilling his destiny as the future king of Israel. Without Jonathan, it would have been difficult for David to become Israel's king.
When Jesus asked his disciples what people thought of him and what the disciples themselves thought, Peter said, "You're the Messiah, the son of the living God", a truth that was revealed not by the flesh but through the spirit of God. Do you have friends who are filled with the Holy Spirit and with the gift of discernment? Do you have friends who tell you the truth even if it will hurt you? Friends who will not sugarcoat words but be real with you? Find such friends and also become that friend.
Food for thought: As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
