Nothing Wasted預覽
THE TEMPTATION OF THE BROAD WAY INSTEAD OF THE NARROW ROAD
We are called to worship the Lord only.
Promotion, fame, adoration, and the allure of success are all very tempting.
Jesus was extended the highest position of dominion with the caveat of bowing down to Satan. Jesus decided he wasn’t going to live that way. The way we live is as important as what we achieve and obtain. The way in which we follow Jesus on the journey matters more than the destination He has for us.
There is a way of love, self-sacrifice, humility, kindness, and faith that enables us to live via a narrow road, abstaining from the broad ways of the world, that leads to abundant life.
As a precursor to Christ Jesus’ suffering, Peter is rebuked and Jesus vehemently shouts “get behind me Satan”. There seems to be a way to avoid pain and struggle, but there is a point at which Jesus recognized that that isn’t the way the He would best demonstrate God’s love.
Jesus experienced victories in the wilderness that prove the heart of God for humanity.
QUESTIONS
Do you recognize the narrow way in which Christ wants you to live in love, self-sacrifice, humility, kindness, and faith?
Just as Jesus wins in His ministry, we can walk through temptation without bowing down to the ways of the world. Where can you invite the help of the Holy Spirit to press through temptation and deny self?
