Finding Happiness in Christ (Series 2)預覽
Hallelujah exclamation
Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls— yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)
Handel's masterpiece, The Savior, has inspired millions throughout the centuries. However, few people know that George Frederick Handel composed the song in about three weeks. The music flew to him in rapid notes and designs. He composed the song as if moved by an invisible Composer. Few people even know that Handel composed the song when his eyesight began to decline or that he was facing prison terms from debt collectors for overdue bills. Most people find it difficult to create something under stress, especially when financial or physical problems are at the root of the stress. But Handel managed to overcome it.
He credited the completion of his work to one thing: joy. Handel was quoted as saying that he felt that his heart would explode with joy because of what he heard in his mind and heart. It was a joy that forced him to write, create something, and finally, he found expression in the song Hallelujah.
Handel was still alive to see his musical results become a cherished tradition. He was happy when he saw his work being displayed to raise funds for social work.
When joy arises, Jesus Christ is revealed.
Reflection: Joy is the unlimited power that is bestowed into human life so that we can see the impossible into hope. God designs joy so that humans still have the strength to survive in any situation.
Don't let events frustrate the joy of knowing that you are a child of God. Let the Spirit of the Lord fill you with joy.
