The Well-Rounded Business Leader, Part III
This week we’re exploring the differences between wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and what they mean to the well-rounded business leader. Knowledge comes from God, through the experiences and skills He allows us to confront in life, provided we’re humble enough to learn.
As a young loan officer, my first Small Business Administration loan was a disaster. SBA loans require lots of attention to detail and dozens of documentation challenges.
With no previous experience, I made a mess of the loan. But after my superior critiqued my performance, I humbly accepted my failure. That failure provided the knowledge I needed to excel in SBA loans later.
Proverbs 1:7 teaches, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Questions for Reflection:
- According to Proverbs 1:7, what is necessary to gain knowledge?
- Can you think of a Bible character who displayed incredible knowledge?
- Building upon our previous lesson, what good is knowledge without understanding?
