A Testimony in the Making

I love listening to testimonies because it's incredible to hear about God working in peoples' lives. I've always thought you have to be on the other side of something to have a great testimony. Can we have a testimony in the middle of what we are going through? What do I do with my here and now? People can have two common responses to being stuck in the middle:

- We can avoid it and run away from it. Pretend it isn't, or try to blanket it, hoping it will disappear.

- Others fight it. They discuss it until they are blue in the face. Then, they will announce it to anyone in earshot.

Their middle becomes their identity, and they can't see the forest for the trees.

Neither one of these things is how God wants us to deal with our problems because both have us as the savior. Therefore, in both cases, we determine the outcome. Here are God's comforting words to us:

"Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory." Psalm 50:15 NLT

God invites us to call on Him in the middle. When trouble blocks our path, that is what every person in our study does in their confessions. Each confession was different. No two people had the same situation. Some even questioned God's existence or blamed Him for what happened.

But they all called to Him. Their confessions were a cry to God. There is no other way to glorify God than by going to Him when everything seems stuck. When God's ways boggle our minds, we are left with nothing else but committing our lives to His hands.

Psalm 50 showed us two different ways that we can give God glory. Reread it:

"Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory." Psalm 50:15 NLT

1. We can honor him for delivering us out from the middle of our suffering, or,

2. We can give God the glory even in the middle because we already know the ending.

We are all in the middle, but death is not our end. Our ending is eternal life in heaven. Our ending was won on the cross for us. Through Christ's empty tomb, He rewrote each one of our stories. After death, we will see Him before our very eyes.

So what's your confession look like? What are you saying to God in the middle of what you are dealing with? You already know what He says to you. It's the same answer he has for every one of his people who cry out to him.

I am here. I am in control. I will deliver you. I love you.
