Dream Big!預覽
Dreaming BIG is important!
Here we are in the spring, almost six months into the year. I'm not sure if you even remember your New Year's resolutions. Maybe they are a distant memory, or maybe you didn’t bother making new resolutions because you thought, “What’s the point?" This week, I want to show you the value of dreaming BIG, not just when the year starts, but here, right now! :-) That's what God wants for you...but let's take it one step at a time because dreaming BIG is the right thing to do, and starting SMALL is so important!
"Déborah, I just attended an amazing church conference! It was so good! I'm a visionary, so it made me really excited because it gave me a lot of new and great ideas!" As I listened to my father's enthusiastic voice, I caught myself thinking briefly, "Dad, what else will you want to accomplish? You'll be 70 this year!"
But then my heart filled with pride as I looked at his excited face. Throughout his life, my dad was always motivated by challenges to dream BIG and dare to do new things, all with the goal of helping people and changing lives.
When I was young, my dad started a boys' scouting club called the "Royal Rangers." One of the tests he had to pass in order to become the main leader was the "knot challenge." My dad had an extremely hard time with this challenge, but he didn't let that stop him because he was so motivated to help people and change lives.
I remember another time in my dad's life—when others were thinking about retirement, he thought about how he could fight famine in Africa and found ways to help people and change lives. And he's still doing this today!
Were you ever to meet my father, you'd realize that he's human, just like you and me. He doesn't have more experience, financial resources, or more contacts than others. But perhaps he has always "dreamed a little more" than others…and he's never let anything stop him. :-)
My friend, you, too, have many reasons to dream big—don’t let anything stop you!
The desire driving my dad to this day, especially when there's little sign of his dreams being fulfilled, is to be able to say, "I love You, my Lord, and I trust You with my dreams!"
The book of Judges says, "'But let those who love Him be like the sun when it comes out in full strength.'" (Judges 5:31, NKJV)
Will you take the first step and pray this prayer with me as we give our dreams to God? "I love You, Lord! Please give me new ideas and creative ways to help people and change lives, no matter how old I am! Please help me to find my place and dream big! In Jesus' name, amen."
You're a miracle!
Dèborah
