21-Day Devotional for Christian Writers預覽
Your writing dream is a sacred one. And in fairness, not many people will get it. While you may be encouraged to keep at it, other people might actively discourage you from pursuing your dream, because they do not want you to be disappointed. After all, it is a competitive field. And there are others who, quite simply, do not want you to do well. However, do not let that stop you. From experience, I would say that the easiest way to kill a dream is by sharing it with people who do not necessarily share your values (or your knowledge of the industry, for that matter).
Everybody loves getting and sharing good news – well, most people. But there are times when it’s wise to wait before sharing or, quite simply, not share at all!
Today’s verse is an apt one for writers. We want to share our work with the world, but at the same time we must exercise caution. There is a difference between constructive criticism (which seeks to build you up and help you improve your writing skills) and negative criticism, the kind that seeks to crush and destroy your writing dream. Which is what today’s verse also refers to: ‘…lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.’
The lesson: Find (or build) a writing support network that know and understand what you do – it is well worth it.
