Change Starts With You

5天中的第4天

When you understand that death is under God’s rule, it changes things. You see people differently. You see situations differently. You see money, time, and resources differently. When you understand that death isn’t the end, that is when you truly start to live. You’re free to stop basing your happiness on worldly success, free from holding petty grudges, free from believing that right now is all that matters. You start to see your life in the context of eternity.

Life is not easy, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. We live in a broken world, with broken systems, full of broken people. And it’s our job to fix the broken world and repair the broken systems, but also to understand that we are the broken people. We are the people who have been hurt and have done the hurting. So we need to change. We need to change our thought processes, change our actions, and change our hearts.

I believe that there is a way to heal our broken selves. I believe it in the depths of my soul. I’ve seen it firsthand. If you believe in Jesus—believe that he is the Son of God, that he came to earth, lived a life without fault, died on a cross, and rose from the dead so that we can live—he can change the course of your life and the course of your family’s life. If you believe that he has bought your life with his own, then you no longer need to fear death. He’ll save you from yourself, your sin, and the penalty that comes with sin. It’s like he hits the delete button on all your mistakes—past, present, and future. He washes you as white as snow. He removes your sins as far as the east is from the west.

Prayer
Father God, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to this earth. Thank you for sacrificing him so that I could live. Thank you for the freedom that comes from believing in Jesus. Help me to shine for you. Amen.
