Courage in the Life of a Believer預覽
Courage to wait for God
“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” (Psalm 27:14)
Waiting for other people can be a humiliating experience. When I am sitting in the waiting room at the dentist’s, I am stuck till the dentist shows up to call me. It would never occur to me to associate courage with waiting.
Yet this is what David does in this Psalm. He starts with the words: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1) David uses God’s covenant name: the LORD, which means I AM WHO I AM (Exodus 3:14). God is faithful and never changes. Even when we are in challenging life situations, we know that the faithful One is the stronghold of our life. This is why David can say: Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (Psalm 27:14) Waiting for God is not a passive, humiliating experience. Waiting for God is reserved for those who rely on Him and are confident of His help. It enables us to be strong and courageous, because we know that He is our light and salvation. Along with David we can say: “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!”
How can you wait for the LORD in your situation today?
