Day 2 - Who Is
Who is and who was, and who is to come. In any order, these are true. However, the Bible chooses an order that would be incredibly troubling for any chronomaniac making them pull their hair out screaming, “was” should be first. Most of us would feel the same way. But the order is not random. When Moses asked God what name he should give the Israelites when they ask who told him these things, God said, “Tell them I am”. The greatest reality in the visible and invisible world is that God is. Isaiah prophesies that a virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and He will be called Immanuel- God with us. The foundation of the confidence Moses had to boldly approach Pharaoh and demand the release of God’s people sprung from the promise God made that He would be with him. The pillar that held up the charge to Joshua to be strong and courageous was the promise God made to him that He would never leave him or forsake him but that God would be with him. We read over 300 times in the Bible, “Do not fear”. It’s not because there aren’t situations, people, or things that can cause us fear, but rather because God wants our focus and hope to be in Him because He is as present as those things and is more powerful than them. Before David delivered the death blow to the giant Goliath, he declared victory by telling him that the battle belonged to the Lord. David understood that God was with him in the battle and that God would secure the victory. The certainty of His presence is evident in the “is” of every person’s life. We only say, “God was” in reference to the specific ways He’s worked in the past. We never use the phrase referring to His character, nature, or attributes as things that are no more. For example, we might say God was present in the burning bush. We don’t mean that God no longer exists, but rather He is no longer present in the burning bush, which was a moment in time. However, His love, mercy, patience, etc..., those are not just “was” but also “is”. If God ever “was” with you, He still “is”. What can separate the believers from the Love of Christ? Nothing, because God is.
關於此計劃
