Day 1: Building a Foundation of Trust and Love

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." - Theodore Hesburgh

Dear Dads,

I'm writing to you as a dad of two daughters. I'm not a perfect dad.

I've missed moments with both of them.

But right now, I feel the culture lusting after my girls with the goal of separating them from me and ultimately from Jesus.

This is a call to all dads around the world to fight for the blessing God gave you.

Your daughter needs you and God gave her to you for a reason.

It's time for you and her to get stronger together.

This devotional is meant for you to read and reflect in unison with your daughter. If you're a dad reading this, share it with your daughter now, and vice versa for daughters.

Today, let's focus on building a foundation of trust and love in your relationship with your daughter.

Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old, they will not depart from it."

As a dad, you have the unique opportunity to model love, respect, and trust in your relationships, especially with your daughter's mother.

Your daughter is watching what you do, not just what you say. And as you and I both know, “actions SPEAK louder than words.”

Reflect on the example of Joseph, Jesus' earthly father, who demonstrated incredible trust and love in his relationship with Mary and in raising Jesus.

Joseph's love and support allowed Jesus to grow in wisdom and stature (Luke 2:52).

As you go about your day, consider this reflective question: How can you actively demonstrate love, respect, and trust in your relationships, setting an example for your daughter?

Stronger together means not just asking the tough questions but taking action on them.

I'm rooting for you,

Anthony Thompson

Part 2 - Daughters:

Quote: "A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart." - Unknown

Dear Daughters,

Today, let's focus on honoring and trusting your dad as you grow and develop.

Ephesians 6:1-3 says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother'—which is the first commandment with a promise—' so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.'"

Remember the story of Ruth, who honored her mother-in-law, Naomi, by remaining loyal and trusting her guidance.

Through her obedience and trust, Ruth found a new life, love, and purpose (Ruth 1:16-17).

As you go about your day, consider this reflective question: How can you honor and trust your dad, recognizing the wisdom and experience he brings to your life?

I know this might not be easy to do but dig deep.

You may need time to forgive your dad.

No Dad is perfect, and that’s ok.

Just don’t let it hold you back.

Praying for you,

Aaliyah Thompson
