Day 3: Sharing Your Gifts:
Today, we’re going to take a look at how Joseph shared his gifts with others, and how we can come to do the same.
When you read Genesis 41:1-40, you’ll learn that when Pharaoh had a troubling dream, the former prisoner whom Joseph had helped remembered him and recommended him to Pharaoh. Joseph was summoned from prison and brought before Pharaoh who asked him to interpret the dream.
Joseph’s interpretation proved to be correct, and Pharaoh was so impressed that he made Joseph his second-in-command, giving him authority over all of Egypt. Joseph was finally able to use his gift to help others as he managed the country’s resources during a time of great famine.
In many ways, Joseph’s journey from Potiphar’s house to prison and eventually to a position of power is a story of resilience and determination. He never gave up, even in the darkest of times, and he continued to hold on to his faith and his belief in a better future.
Joseph went from prison to a place of organizing a strategy that single-handedly would save many nations – by sharing the gifts that God had given him. Wow! This took everything he had learned and compounded it into a system. Joseph served the rich at Potiphar’s. He served the poor in prison. He led both from the palace.
Joseph easily could have sulked and remained in prison. Instead, he used what God gave him and, with God’s assistance, transformed his circumstance and helped feed nations!
How will He use your gifts? How will you let Him?
