Planted and Flourishing

Paul was an extremely devoted Jew who believed that those who followed Jesus should be arrested for what they believed. He came face to face with the fact that he had been wrong when Jesus came to him on the road to Damascus and blinded him with a bright light. After he regained his sight and was filled with the Holy Spirit, he was baptised and began preaching the truth about Jesus. Paul traveled through cities, towns, and villages. He sailed treacherous seas and eventually found himself in prison for telling people about Jesus.

Paul planted churches all over the Roman Empire and wrote letters to encourage the believers and teach them as they grew. We can read these letters in our Bibles, in the New Testament. In these letters, Paul continually encourages people to grow in their faith, stay planted, and keep their eyes on Jesus.

Even while imprisoned for talking about Jesus, he kept writing and encouraging. Paul knew how important it was for followers of Jesus to be planted so they could grow in Christ. Allow Paul’s letters to some of the first followers of Jesus to encourage you, too. Let your roots grow deep in God!
